In 1993, the Administrator, Director of Marketing, a local lawyer and began to discuss the feasibility of a support group for the hospital, separated from his staff. Fieldwork was placed and proposed statutes were developed by the Samaritan Memorial Foundation. In late January 1994, a board of twelve members had accepted the obligation of the administration of the Foundation and the Statutes were officially approved. The Samaritan Memorial Foundation supports the hospital's goal of providing quality health care to Macon and surrounding communities .
The aim of the Foundation is to support and assist the hospital to improve existing services and to assist in adding new essential. Some of the most recent projects of the Foundation are ;

- Total Family Health Care Building
- Samaritan Dialysis Center and Expansion
- Medicine Fellowship Program
The purpose of the Samaritan Memorial Foundation is to help provide quality health care to the area by financing improvements to the facility and the provision of necessary equipment. Samaritan Hospital has a long history of care for residents of Macon and surrounding counties. For more than 85 years, the Samaritan Hospital has evolved to meet the needs of our community.
